The image of Donald Trump is increasing among French people

Fewer French people have a negative image of American President Donald Trump, a new poll has been revealed and there is one main reason why. However, France is eager to have their own version of Trump at the Elysée Palace.

The poll conducted after the midterm elections this week revealed that 65 percent of French people have negative opinions from Donald Trump.

While that means there are still clear majority who are not fans of the divisive US president, the figure is actually a 16 percentage point decrease in one year, indicating that France is less hostile towards POTUS.

"At this level the American president will no longer be unpopular among the majority of French people when he completes his term in office," said a poll conducted by Odoxa and Dentsu consultations for Le Figaro newspaper and Info France radio.

Is there a reason why Trump is less popular than last year?

"It's only because French people may not like who he is, but they judge some of the things he does are less negative," read the poll.

"Why is its image increasing? Because its protectionist actions are seen as positive for jobs in the United States by 57 percent of French people. But most of those surveyed accept the same actions that are bad for Europe.

But only 10 percent of French people have a clear positive view of Trump, while 25 percent have not yet decided.

So that doesn't mean France is ready to choose their own Trump.

"No, 100 percent isn't!" poll word. "Eight out of 10 French people are hostile to this idea."

According to French polls divided in the way they see Trump, the working class is far less critical of the US president than high-level white-collar workers.

Trump has a negative image among 84 percent of the highest producers in France compared to 57 percent of blue-collar workers.

Asked to fulfill Trump's characteristic requirements about 84 percent of respondents rated him as "racist" while 83 percent agreed he was "dangerous".

Only 20 percent thought he was "competent" and only "30 percent" thought he was "effective".

Asked to choose a French political figure who most reminded them of Donald Trump, the majority of French people voted for right-wing leader Le Lép.

In the second place Emmanuel Macron appeared.

Trump is scheduled in France this week to participate in a ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary since the end of the First World War.
